Our History

Bethesda was founded in a small building on the south side of San Antonio, Texas in 1964 by Rev. Roberto & Florinda Reyes. In 1976, Pastor Vasquez was asked to temporarily pastor Bethesda while the small congregation continued to search for a senior pastor. During this time Pastor Vasquez grew a love for the congregation, the community, and for the entire city. Together he and his wife began working in building up the congregation and purchased a property with larger faciliites on South Zarzamora and moved locations with approximately 30 members. After pastoring Bethesda for 35 years, this ministry has touched countless families, impacted a community, and reached nations. Bethesda has a rich and fruitful history, but we are convinced that the best is yet to come!
